Second Life-Teaching and Learning in the Virtual World

Second Life is an internet-based virtual world in which people interact with one another via avatars and engage in a range of activities. They can explore the world, meet and form friendships with others and even exchange goods and services. You use this environment to build virtual objects with the option to add interaction. You also create and personalize your avatar which can be a representation of you, the opposite sex, an animal or even an abstract shape.

This virtual world enables people to undertake activities which include virtual meetings, training sessions and teaching via a virtual school or university. Many universities around the world have built an online version of their campus within Second Life and use this to give lectures, teach new skills or to enable students to work together on projects.This is useful for students enrolled on distance learning programmes who are unable to undertake a traditional undergraduate degree due to a variety of factors. This type of system allows them the chance to meet and interact with other students as well as keep up to date with assignments. It can also prevent feelings of isolation and loneliness which can occur in students who work away from a university.

 

The aim is to build a community in which students participate and collaborate as a way of learning about a

range of subjects. They design and build new places, undertake a variety of tasks – which have been set for them by their teachers, and acquire knowledge in new and exciting ways. This guarantees an experience which they are unlikely to forget. Second Life are now being used by language teachers as well to provide simulation of real life environments and allow students to discover more creative and more realistic ways to improve their language skills.

Ken Robinson’s Speech Analysis “Do Schools Kill Creativity?”

 

            A British author, speaker, and international education advisor Ken Robinson delivered a literal speech which pointing out the magnitude of creativity and education. His purpose was to indicate the magnitude of creativity in education and convey to people creativity in education as important as literacy. He claimed that education systems all around the world have the same hierarchy of subject, given more importance to mathematics and languages and given less importance to arts. He commented on that this hierarchy tends to generalize children’s talents and kills children’s creativity, so he tried to accomplish to evoke an awareness in the audience against to this mistake in our education system. Ken Robinson, who clarifies the problem of the educational system which leads to kills children’s creativity with generalization, utilized an appropriate content that emphasized his tone and sense of humor during his speech, he structured his talk well and delivers his speech in a convincing way.

First of all, Robinson opened his speech with jesting and clear tone and then wisely explained the magnitude of creativity and education with true-life experiences. He said that all children have tremendous talents and extraordinary capacities for innovation, however, our education system killing their talents. More specifically, he claims that schools and education system all around the world are educated children out of their creative capacities. His purpose is to provide people to discover their talents, and he selects best-suited examples to convey his thoughts such as Gillian Lynne’s story who is a choreographer. The attitude of Robinson during the talk was entertainingly evoking awareness of the magnitude of creativity in education.

Secondly, Robinson utilizing three major division in his speech; he started with a positive introduction which captured the audience’s attention and he appropriately conveyed his purpose to the content. The body part of his speech supported by some true-life experiences. He narrated Gillian Lynne’s life story which is an evidence of his thought. While he conveys his ideas to the audience he organized his speech well, he conveys them step by step; for example, first, he narrated that people are all born with profound natural capacities. The second was that the method of teaching has not changed, he said they all into being to meet the needs of industrialism. The next one was about that, undergraduate degrees are not worth anything because of academic inflation even graduate degrees start to lose their importance,  now people tend to endeavor for a doctorate degree. So Robinson set out that we need to radically rethink our view of education. As a conclusion Robinson shortly emphasized that imagination is the gift for humanity. And as the speech moved from the introduction, through the body, and onto the conclusion, Robinson was appropriate to the content and his audience.

Lastly, Robinson’s techniques that he utilized while delivering his speech was in a convincing way. While Robinson conveying his ideas to the audience he utilized some rhetorical devices; for instance, rhetorical questions which do not need an answer such as, …am I right? …don’t you? …wasn’t she? …isn’t that true? He used alliterated in his speech which is another rhetorical device; diverse, dynamic, distinct. And the other rhetorical device was epizeuxis; it was big, it was a big story. Moreover, he utilized the power of real-life story to the amazed his audience, he narrated a powerful success story about a choreographer which was the most convincing part of his speech.

On the whole, Robinson’s speech captured everyone’s attention and exposed them from beginning to the end. He delivered his thought to the audience with motivational quotations. While Robinson narrates how education systems kill children’s creativity he still manages to motivate his audiences with a powerful success story. In summary, Ken Robinson, who clarifies the problem of the educational system which leads to kills children’s creativity with generalization, utilized an appropriate content that emphasized his tone and sense of humor during his speech, and he structured his talk well and delivered his speech in a convincing way.

The Rhetorical Speech Analyses of Adolf Hitler

 

  First of all, I want to give further information about Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler was the Nazi leader of Germany but also he was the man who was responsible for the devastation of the second world war and the horrors of the Holocaust. When it comes to mentioning the speech, it is one of the unusual and actually shocking speeches in the history of the world. It is the hard thing to describe, but the voice itself mesmeric, while people listen to his speech probably people think he is a trustable man and people will never doubt what he says. You can see in the video people seem like believe in Hitler without a doubt.

Hitler uses the antithesis he makes a connection between two things the future of Germany with young people. And he uses repetition to emphasize what he says. Adolf Hitler uses his body language in a unique way he uses his hands strongly and it is effective on listeners to make them persuade. His body language and voice coherent with his content. (ethos) Hitler persuades the listener by fear and love which is extremely effective and also manipulative.
